Your privacy
Last updated: August 25, 2026. This page explains what information this website collects, how it's used, and the choices you have.
In short
This Privacy Policy applies to the Transurfing Field Manual website (this "website" or "site") and describes the site's actual, current data practices as accurately as possible, along with how things would work if optional features described below, such as advertising, are turned on in the future.
This site does not currently operate a user account system, newsletter signup, or comment section. The only way to voluntarily send us information is the contact form on the Contact page, in which case we receive whatever you choose to include there (your name, your email address, a subject, and your message). That form is processed by Web3Forms, a third-party form-delivery service, which forwards your submission to our inbox by email and applies its own spam filtering; it does not publish or share your information further. See Web3Forms' own privacy policy for how it handles data in transit. We use the information you submit only to respond to your message.
Like most websites, this site may have certain technical information collected automatically at the hosting and network infrastructure level whenever you visit, including your IP address, approximate location derived from that IP address, browser type and version, device and operating system information, the page that referred you here, the pages you visit on this site, and timestamps of your visit. This site's own code does not read, store, or process this information directly; where it exists, it is typically collected and retained by the hosting provider or content delivery network as part of standard server logging, not by any code in this website.
This website does not set any first-party cookies of its own. Google Analytics, described below, sets its own cookies to distinguish visitors and sessions. If advertising services are enabled on this website, as described below, those services may set their own cookies once active.
This site uses your browser's local storage, not a cookie, to remember a single setting: whether you prefer light or dark mode. This value never leaves your device, is not sent to any server, is not used for tracking or advertising, and is not shared with any third party. You can clear it at any time by clearing your browser's site data.
This website uses Google Analytics to understand aggregate traffic patterns, such as which pages are visited and how visitors arrive at the site. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies to collect information including your IP address, browser and device information, and the pages you visit on this site. This data is processed by Google in accordance with its own privacy policy. You can learn more, and opt out of Google Analytics tracking across websites, at Google's Analytics opt-out page, or review Google's practices at policies.google.com/privacy.
Hosting providers and content delivery networks commonly keep short-term server logs for security, performance, and abuse-prevention purposes. This site does not control the retention period of those logs beyond what its hosting provider sets by default, and does not access them for any purpose beyond troubleshooting the site itself.
This website's codebase includes built-in support for Google AdSense advertising. If AdSense (or a similar advertising service) is enabled on this website, Google and its advertising partners may use cookies or similar technologies to serve ads based on your visit to this site and other sites, including interest-based or personalized advertising. Third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites.
If advertising services such as Ezoic or Mediavine are enabled on this website in the future, they would operate similarly: placing their own cookies or similar technologies and, in some cases, working with a wider network of advertising partners to do the same. This policy will be updated to name whichever advertising services are actually active if and when they are enabled.
You can learn more about how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, and you can opt out of personalized advertising through Google Ads Settings or, for participating providers generally, through aboutads.info/choices.
Any cookies placed by an advertising provider, once and if one is active on this site, are set and controlled by that third party, not by this website. Their use of your information is governed by their own privacy policies, not this one.
This site links to external resources, including retailers, libraries, and secondary sources referenced in its research. Those websites have their own privacy practices, which this policy does not cover. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any external site you visit.
Whatever information does reach us, described above, is used only to:
If advertising is enabled, information collected by that advertising service is used for the purposes described in that service's own privacy policy, such as ad delivery and measurement.
We do not retain personal information beyond what's necessary for the purposes described above. Email correspondence is kept only as long as needed to address your message. Server logs, where they exist, follow the hosting provider's own default retention period, which this site does not separately control.
We take reasonable steps to protect information that reaches us, but no method of transmission or storage over the internet is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of any information.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal information under laws such as the EU or UK General Data Protection Regulation, or the California Consumer Privacy Act and California Privacy Rights Act. These can include the right to know what information is held about you, to request its correction or deletion, and to object to certain uses of it. Since this site does not operate accounts and collects very little personal information directly, most such requests would concern email correspondence you have sent us or, where applicable, opting out of interest-based advertising through the links above. To make a request, contact us using the details on the Contact page.
This website is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us using the details below and we will remove it.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, including if we enable an advertising or analytics service not currently active on this site. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
Questions about this Privacy Policy can be sent through the form on the Contact page.
