Chapter guide
The 19 chapters
The book's actual table of contents, chapter by chapter. Field-manual write-ups are being published chapter by chapter: chapters without one yet are marked content pending.
The Alternatives Model
Chapter I lays out Zeland's foundational model: reality as a Space of Variations holding every possible sector at once, with your state acting as the tuning dial that decides which one you occupy.
Pendulums
Pendulums are energy-information structures built from a group's shared attention and emotion. This chapter explains how they form, why fighting one feeds it, and why deliberate indifference, not confrontation, is what actually stops the swing.
The Wave of Fortune
The Wave of Fortune is the positive mirror of a pendulum: a run of favorable life lines that builds on itself when you meet it with genuine gratitude instead of suspicion, and collapses when fear or complaint feeds it back the wrong signal.
Balance
Chapter IV names importance as the variable behind excess potential, then traces it through resentment, dependency, idealization, guilt, money and perfectionism, before reframing the fix as balance, not victory.
The Induced Transition
A shared negative event does not put everyone who lives through it on the same path afterward. Dread and reactive fixation, more than the event itself, are what shift a person onto worse available life lines.
The Alternatives Flow
Chapter VI reframes the Space of Variations as a live information field and teaches how to read it: ease marks an open path, discomfort marks resistance, and letting go of control reads the field better than forcing ever does.
Intention
Chapter VII draws the book's central technical line: inner intention, aimed at your own action, against outer intention, which releases how the outcome arrives once heart and mind agree on the goal.
Slides
A slide is the internal mental picture the mind runs instead of perceiving reality directly. This chapter explains how an uncontrolled slide distorts perception, and how a deliberately chosen, calmly held positive slide gives outer intention something concrete to aim at.
The Heart and Mind
Chapter IX deepens the heart-mind distinction behind outer intention: the heart senses a sector's fit directly, the mind can override that signal, and unity between them is intention's real precondition. It also introduces fraile, a person's original shape of taste.
Goals and Doors
Chapter X separates a genuinely personal goal from one adopted to satisfy someone else's scorecard, and introduces the door: the path to a goal, which should stay flexible even while the goal itself stays fixed.
Energy
Chapter XI splits energy into physiological and free currents, treats stress and importance as what drains the free reserve that fuels outer intention, and closes on a carefully non-medical reading of illness as a personal-scale pendulum.
Frailing
Frailing takes fraile, the original shape of a person's own taste introduced in Chapter IX, and turns it into a relational technique: seeing another person's fraile genuinely raises their self-worth, which frees their own intention, and both people benefit.
Coordination
Chapter XIII reframes pendulums as clay golems built from human importance, treats confidence as what remains once excess potential is dropped, and closes on believing an outcome versus knowing it.
Forward to the Past
Chapter XIV introduces transaction, a short technique combining gesture, visualization, and focused attention to release tension. The book frames it as a minor supplement to Chapter VIII's slides, not a replacement for them.
Letters from the Past
Letters from the Past turns the book's central caution, if you do not control reality, reality will control you, into applied cases: a losing streak read through Chapter III's feedback loop, a strained relationship read through Chapter IV and XII.
Dances with Shadows
Chapter XVI names boredom as an unmet drive to shape reality, traces how pendulums capture that drive through comparison, and contrasts the pendulum rule's conformity with the Transurfing rule's permission to be yourself, closing on declaring your intention.
The Dreams of the Gods
Chapter XVII makes the book's most explicitly theological turn: reality mirrors the Space of Variations, waking life is treated as a non-lucid dream, and every life is described, within Zeland's framework, as one of God's own dreams.
The Mirror World
The Mirror World formalizes reality as a mirror of the alternatives space. You exist as a passive reflection and an active image, and only the image is yours to move. Chasing the reflection wastes effort; changing the image, then waiting out its delay, is what actually works.
The Gatekeeper to Eternity
Chapter XIX closes the book by naming the maker: someone who protects the energy behind intention, corrects the image rather than the reflection, coordinates a day the way a goal is coordinated, and states decisions as fact rather than waiting for outside confirmation.
