New to Transurfing? These four ideas unlock most of what follows.

Pendulums

A "pendulum" is any group energy structure, a fandom, a workplace, an ideology, a family argument, that grows by hooking your attention and emotion, then feeding on the energy you send it.

Excess Potential

Excess potential is the imbalance created when you want something too much, fear something too much, or inflate its importance beyond its actual weight; imbalance is what the world's "balancing forces" move in to correct.

Outer Intention

Outer intention is acting from "I choose to move toward this" instead of inner intention's "I must force this to happen": you still act, but you stop trying to control the mechanism of how the result arrives.

Space of Variations

The Space of Variations is the idea that every possible version of your life, every "sector," good and bad, already exists as pure potential, and your thoughts and state act like a dial that selects which sector you actually experience.

Wave of Fortune

The Wave of Fortune is the practice of noticing and riding a run of small favorable coincidences instead of overanalyzing or second-guessing them: momentum, in Transurfing's model, is a real signal worth trusting.

Target Slides

A target slide is a short, specific, sensory mental "film" of your goal already achieved, replayed regularly to give your tuning a clear destination instead of a vague wish.

Mirror Principle

The Mirror Principle is the idea that the outer world reflects your inner state back at you: change what you are projecting (your mood, your behavior, your relationship to a situation) and the reflection changes with it. You cannot fix a reflection by attacking the mirror.

Balancing Forces

Balancing forces are the corrective mechanism that moves in whenever excess potential creates an imbalance: pressure that nudges a situation back toward equilibrium, often by producing exactly the opposite of what you pushed for.

Inner Intention

Inner intention is acting from "I must force this to happen": willpower gripped directly on an outcome, gritting your teeth and straining toward a result. It's the counterpart Transurfing contrasts with outer intention's "I choose to move toward this, however it arrives."

Frailness of the World

Frailness of the world is this field manual's name for a thread running through Transurfing's whole model: the structure of reality is more fragile and more responsive to your attention and state than it looks from the outside, which is part of why tuning, slides, and the mirror model work at all.

Slides

A slide is any habitual mental "film" your mind runs automatically, positive or negative, whether you chose it or not. Ordinary perception is already a slide; a target slide is the specific, deliberately built kind, aimed at a goal on purpose.

Importance

Importance is the mental weight you assign an outcome: how much you have decided your well-being depends on it. Pile on enough of it and you get excess potential, the imbalance it produces. Importance is the dial; excess potential is what happens when it's turned up too high.
